An extension was built on the old building of the Istituto Comprensivo Statale "Compagni-Carducci" in Florence, which follows the principles of environmental sustainability.

The new building, on three levels and with three entrances, was built without architectural barriers and accommodates up to 672 pupils. Inside there are 24 classrooms, 11 laboratories, a gymnasium, a 156-seat auditorium, a biodynamic greenhouse, a 114-seat library and an open-air theatre.
